This idea was the result of two months of hard work which many said couldn't be done. With the partnership of friends and family, especially Mrs. P & Mrs. M - it happened on May 17, 2007. We were blessed with a beautiful spring evening and over 700 participants. Please see below to view pictures of the event.
Over 30 sponsors signed up, a t-shirt was designed by Brandon, and 300 people signed up in advance. A special thanks to our friends in the community of St. John the Beloved - our parish and grade school who hosted the event! Without them it would never have been possible. In addition, a special thanks to the many food purveyors who donated pretzels, bagels, drinks, and snacks for some post-race enjoyment. Come race day, an additional 400 people signed up (we still have some t-shirts at our house for you!! please contact us!) and decided to run or walk. There were survivors of cancer, young and old, and lots of people who have been indirectly touched by the disease.
In the end, due to the generosity & time given by many, a check was presented to the Helen F. Graham Center for $14,500 - all to fund research programs only!
